Paulo Sousa was disappointed by Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw with Sampdoria, as “we dropped important points and lacked intensity.”

Federico Bernardeschi had given the hosts the lead with a cross-shot, but Luis Muriel’s glancing header wiped it out.

“The teams that play in the Europa League do tend to struggle with fatigue, but we’ve always maintained a high level anyway,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“The teams that play in the Europa League do tend to struggle with fatigue, but we’ve always maintained a high level anyway,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Today the intensity of the first half was good and we had a lot of quality, but the second half was not on the same level and we couldn’t maintain that lead for what would’ve been a deserved victory.

“I think mental intensity is more important than the physical one, especially against a side like Sampdoria that plays good football. Our style of football requires a lot of concentration and hard work, so we need to finish games off earlier.

“These are dropped points and we’ve done that quite a few times at home this season when we deserved more, but that is football.

“We must continue to play quality football, but with more intensity.”
