Sebastian Giovinco’s agent slammed Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura for discrediting Toronto FC without “knowledge” of MLS.

The Atomic Ant has been on sensational form in North America, but was ignored for international duty again.

Ventura explained his reasons in a Press conference, mentioning that “he plays in a League where the number of goals he scores has less importance.

“Sometimes you adapt to that type of League, then the phase of returning and recapturing [your previous level] becomes secondary because he can expect the ball without any problems.”

Tuttomercatoweb.com interviewed Giovinco’s agent Andrea D’Amico.

“I was above all surprised by Ventura’s words. I think that you cannot have competence without knowledge. The Nazionale Coach and his staff have the duty to go and see all the Italian players, regardless of the tournament or country they are in.

“I don’t expect anything from anyone. I just say that a striker’s numbers speak for him and Sebastian is scoring a huge amount, much more than other Italian colleagues.

“MLS is full of top level athletes, it’s growing as a League, just as I consider the Russian Premier League to be competitive, despite Domenico Criscito and Salvatore Bocchetti being excluded.

“The Nazionale remains the objective for any player. A CT has the right to make his choices, but he must also know in detail the material at his disposal.”
