Torino President Urbano Cairo has pledged to strengthen the squad in January to push for European qualification.

The Granata already spent big over the summer with the introduction of Adem Ljajic, Iago Falque, Mirko Valdifiori, Leandro Castan and on loan goalkeeper Joe Hart.

“I can quite happily say we’re in the running for Europe. We’re not hiding that,” Cairo told Radio 2.

“I didn’t say it when we had Giampiero Ventura on the bench because he didn’t like to feel that pressure, but Sinisa Mihajlovic is someone who feeds on pressure for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so we can talk about it.

“We have a squad with the sixth most prolific strike force in Europe, an excellent midfield and a defence that is improving all the time, so naturally we hope to achieve this objective.

“Our fans are satisfied and we are too. We must continue with these performances and think big. We could strengthen the squad in January to make that push for Europe even more determined.

“I think this is the strongest Torino side of my time here.”
