Marco Parolo was pleased with the high pressing game Italy used in the 0-0 friendly draw with Germany.

“Today what really counted was the performance. We changed system, but the important thing was the interpretation of it,” the Lazio midfielder told Rai Sport.

“The first half was played at a high tempo. In the second we did well to pass it around. We are improving, have young players who can make the difference and us old boys just need to keep ticking along.

“Against Spain we were passive and allowed them to control the match. This evening we decided to go and get Germany by pressing high up the field.

“Giampiero Ventura is a new Coach and we need to get to know each other. The important thing is to have consistent performances.

“I’ve been very impressed by Andrea Belotti, as he is a modern striker, he presses, keeps the ball up and helps the team.

“I compliment the young players like Daniele Rugani, Alessio Romagnoli and Gigio Donnarumma, who have incredible character and confidence.”
