Silvio Berlusconi said “the closing will be on December 13, it’s all done, but if it isn’t then I’ll take back Milan with great pleasure.”
The mixed message came in an interview the President gave to TV show Matrix.
A snippet was released, as it will be aired in its entirety this evening.
“The closing will be on December 13, it’s all done,” said Berlusconi of the sale to Chinese investors.
“If it isn’t, then I’ll have to take back Milan with great pleasure and change strategy: it will be an all-Italian and very young Milan.”
Why did he decide to sell the club after 30 years at the helm?
“Milan needed capital. It was a painful decision, but a necessary one. I tried to seek Italian investors, but couldn't find enough. I tried to imitate Real Madrid and Barcelona by selling shares to fans, but that didn't work either. In the end, I had to accept the Chinese offer."
