Senad Lulic admits he’d “be a liar” if he said he wasn’t thinking about the Rome Derby, but Lazio “are accustomed to working under stressful conditions.”

The Aquile are doing surprisingly well this season, sitting in joint fourth position with Atalanta, only one point behind Milan and Roma.

“It is a very positive period of form for us with eight consecutive results, so we want to continue in Palermo on Sunday,” the versatile player told Lazio Style Radio.

“We are not dependent on our strikers, as more or less everyone has found the net and we’ve got quality all over the field. It is always nice to score goals, but I try to help the team in whatever role I can.

“We can all learn from each other, including us from the old guard who can still pick up new tricks despite our age. The important thing is to be a group and fight to help one another.”

The build-up to the Rome Derby is always difficult, but Lulic isn’t concerned.

“We are accustomed to working under stressful conditions, as there is always pressure in Rome. Every weekend there is this need to win and our objective is to get back into Europe.

“The fans have been asking me about the derby since the fixture list was drawn up. I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t thinking about it now. We’ll try to return from Palermo with a result, then we’ll think about December 4.”

Before that showdown, Lazio cannot risk getting distracted against relegation strugglers Palermo.

“In the past we have had problems against teams who on paper are slightly inferior. We must focus only on our own football. You can tell this squad never gives up, believes in what it is doing and even when going behind is well aware it can fight back.

“I just hope Felipe Anderson doesn’t read the papers, because I’m afraid too much praise will make him step off the gas. He needs to continue at his current pace.”
