Injured Milan Captain Riccardo Montolivo has praised 18-year-old Manuel Locatelli, who has stepped in to replace him in the side.

"There has been an improvement both in terms of individuals and the collective and it is a pleasure to see this team play," the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

"Much of the credit goes to [Vincenzo] Montella, in both the revaluation of some players, and in playing in a proactive manner.

“The Coach has done very well to keep the corporate issues from Milanello away from the team.

"We are aware that there are negotiations, but we also know that these negotiations are made for the good of Milan and [Silvio] Berlusconi would only trust companies that would put us in safe hands.

"Of course I’m sorry that he’s leaving, as are any Rossoneri employees or fans, because he gave us unforgettable nights.

"But we only focus on the game. We want to return to Europe, and along the way we will find out if it is to be the Europa League or the Champions League.

"Locatelli? I have a great relationship with him, he's a good guy who listens a lot. He's extremely talented, and I'm sure he has a great career ahead of him."
