Curiously, Inzaghi made his debut on the Biancocelesti bench in this very fixture last year.

“A lot has changed since then,” assured the Coach in his Press conference.

“It was fantastic to make my Serie A debut and I could not have hoped for better. Palermo are coming off a run of defeats, not all of them deserved, as they are organised and follow their tactician’s suggestions.

“Although they haven’t had good results, we have to face them with strong motivation. That’s what I tried to drill into my team.

“There are many hidden dangers, including the kick-off time, as it’s our first lunchtime game, so we’ve got to keep our guard up. Palermo will be ready for battle and I will not stand for any drops in concentration levels.

“Over the last two games we’ve been consistent and fortunately the treatment room is emptying out. Unfortunately I am again without Federico Marchetti and Stefan de Vrij, while Ricardo Kishna and Luis Alberto have not recovered either.

“We tested both three and four at the back, so should be ready to change within the match if needs be. What counts more than tactics is the determination and attitude. Otherwise we’re going into a tough game.”

There is above all the risk that Lazio could be distracted by next week’s showdown with city rivals Roma.

“I know what it means to the fans and in some sense we’ve thought about the derby since pre-season training, but I am concentrated only on Palermo, because they are like a wounded animal and as such are dangerous.

“It is a risk, but if I had left Felipe Anderson out because he’s one yellow card away from suspension, I’d be sending a negative signal to my team.

“Palermo are no push-overs and we must step on to the field with the best players. I have some doubts as to the final line-up. We need to be aggressive.”
