“Napoli have struggled without Arkadiusz Milik? What should we say, then? We’ve been without Alfred Duncan and Domenico Berardi for 20 games,” said the Neroverdi Coach in a Press conference.

“The positive aspect is that Federico Ricci and Antonino Ragusa are improving, because unfortunately they had to be thrown in there from the start because there were so many players missing.

“If Lorenzo Pellegrini doesn’t recover, then we have only three midfielders. Having said that, I want to play 4-3-3, because that is when I see my team.

“Matteo Politano is available, while Davide Biondini needs surgery on the Achilles Tendon. I wish him the best, because he’s a great lad who gave the team so much.

“Napoli play some of the best football in Serie A, perhaps the best. We must do well to look forward, concentrate our energy to get back up the table, because there’s no time for anything else.

“We’ve shown despite all these problems that we have an identity, a style of football and mustn’t stray from that. We have to be more determined and concentrated for the full 90 minutes.”

Sassuolo crashed out of the Europa League with Thursday’s 3-2 defeat away to Athletic Club Bilbao.

“We need to work on set plays. In Europe Sassuolo scored 17 goals, but 50 per cent of those conceded were on dead ball situations and that is an issue. Europe was a wonderful experience, but it will help us to have a full week of training again.

“There have to be no alibis, because the team never did give in and we’re only missing the results at the moment.”

Sassuolo squad for Napoli: Pomini, Consigli, Pegolo; Antei, Peluso, Acerbi, Lirola, Gazzola, Terranova, Cannavaro, Dell’Orco; Magnanelli, Pellegrini, Missiroli, Mazzitelli; Iemmello, Matri, Defrel, Politano, Pierini, Ricci, Ragusa, Adjapong
