The agent of Fiorentina Captain Gonzalo Rodriguez has stated that the two parties have failed to reach an agreement on a contract renewal.
With his current deal expiring at the end of the season, the Argentinian centre-back had been expected to renew, but talks have now broken down.
The 32-year-old's representative revealed that the Fiorentina talisman had not even asked for an improved deal, but the club are seemingly offering a reduced contract.
"There is no agreement for the renewal,"agent Jose Iglesias told Radio Blu. "Fiorentina has not moved a centimetre from what was offered last week.
"In doing so they have failed to recognise the merits of Gonzalo and what he has done for this club.
"For me it was a surprise, under these conditions we will not renew. We wanted to give priority to Fiorentina, but at this point the club forces us to talk with other teams.
"Gonzalo would prefer to stay here, he doesn't ask for a euro more, he would accept the conditions of the existing contract.
"Fiorentina does not consider it economically important. A new meeting? It's difficult because now I'm going back to Argentina and with the passage of time other clubs could come forward."
