Reports suggest Gonzalo Rodriguez’s contract troubles with Fiorentina have alerted Milan, who could make a move in January.
The defender is keen to renew with the Viola, given that his current deal expires at the end of the season.
However, his agent warned today that the club have “not moved a centimetre from what was offered last week”.
Rodriguez is happy to “accept the conditions of the existing contract”, so it appears the Tuscan club are actually offering a reduction in wages for the 32-year-old.
Now calciomercato.com is reporting that Milan have been alerted to the situation, with Vincenzo Montella having worked with Rodriguez in his time at Artemio Franchi.
The centre-back is free to talk and sign a pre-contract with other clubs in January, and could therefore be available immediately for a knock-down price.
According to the website, he’s seen as an ideal shepherd for Alessio Romagnoli as the youngster continues his development.
