FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio defends barriers at Stadio Olimpico - “if a fan wants to go to the stadium, they go”.
Sunday’s Derby della Capitale will be boycotted by Roma’s Curva Sud Ultras, in protest at segregation introduced for last season.
Lazio are also protesting, but it’s thought they’ll suspend their boycott for the match this weekend.
“If a fan wants to go to the stadium, they go,” Tavecchio shrugged when asked about the potentially embarrassing spectacle of a half-empty stadium.
“You don’t think about a barrier that’s missing or growing. The important thing is that we’re reducing the violence, which was becoming intolerable.
“We’ve recorded a significant reduction in injuries relating to games, and I hope this trend will be maintained.
“I think that Lazio-Roma will be a great derby, not least because of the position in the League of the two teams.”
