“Leandro Paredes, Mohamed Salah and Alessandro Florenzi are out. Stephan El Shaarawy is training with the squad, I don’t know if he’ll be able to start or not. We also have Juan Iturbe and Totti,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Whatever system we use, we want to play good football. Roma showed already that we can adapt and must believe our own performance is what can push us onwards.

“Simone Inzaghi has done a great job with his Lazio side and that means it’ll be a derby at the top end of the table. It is a dangerous derby for us.”

The appeal to the ultras from both sets of fans failed, so the Curva Sud and Nord will again be practically empty in an on-going protest against barriers.

“We feel the club colours like a second skin and what it means to play for Roma, so all the great things that sum up the derby.

“This is a special match, but it is won just like any other game. It’s a derby that moves two different hierarchies: the Serie A table and the rivalry between the city clubs.

“If they can remain calm and focused, then having Roman players in the derby can be an advantage. My players have the quality to win the derby. It’s not like we’re facing Real Madrid and must find something extra to win.

“It’s certainly a difficult match, as Lazio are playing good football, but Roma have what it takes to win. This is the Eternal Derby. As long as the Colosseum stands, there will be the Derby della Capitale and Roma.

“If Lazio come into this as favourites that’s actually pleasing to me, because it gives us further motivation to win.”
