Davide Nicola said Crotone’s victory over Pescara “was like winning twice” after climbing above the Delfini in the Serie A standings.

Only two points separated the sides ahead of the relegation dogfight and this evening’s 2-1 result at the Stadio Scida pulled Crotone out of the bottom two.

“We are happy to have won a very important game, because tonight it was like winning twice,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The final objective of staying in Serie A goes through nights like this. The lads did well today to apply what we had prepared in training.”

This was only Crotone’s second ever top flight victory and was earned with both teams down to 10 men, while Alex Cordaz parried a penalty.

“The team is finding its gear, we have found our identity and I can say we have a clearly-defined idea of football. We’ve been putting together more consistent performances ever since the game with Cagliari, but now what I ask my team is for results even when the match isn’t that aesthetically pleasing.”
