Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2016 Ballon d’Or ahead of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, but Gigi Buffon is in ninth place.
The announcement was made by France Football this evening.
His crowning was widely predicted after Portugal won Euro 2016 and Real Madrid took the Champions League trophy.
It is the fourth edition of this trophy for CR7, the second in as many years.
The silver medal goes to Barcelona and Argentina star Messi, while Atletico Madrid and France forward Griezmann finishes third.
Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Buffon is the highest-ranked representative from Serie A in ninth place, on a par with Portugal and Real Madrid defender Pepe.
Former Juventus midfielders Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, now at Manchester United and Bayern Munich respectively, are joint 14th.
