“I am very happy to be facing Milan. I never expected to be in this position, but I’m happy,” the former Rossoneri chief told Mediaset Premium.

“Every match is fundamental this season. Milan and Juventus are the path towards excellence, as if we win tonight then we’re back to -4 off the top and that is what we’re thinking about. We can think about the Bianconeri from tomorrow.

“The Europa League draw was quite tough. Villarreal are a difficult side to get past and I saw Pato can’t wait to see me – he bombarded me with social media messages!

“They have some tactical issues and we hope to be in our best form when we meet them.”
