Ivan Juric admits Genoa were naïve in an astonishing 4-3 home defeat to Palermo and Mattia Perin “will be punished.”

The goalkeeper was sent off in stoppages for shoving Ilija Nestorovski, who was trying to delay a free kick.

“I realise there was tension, but Mattia is a professional and this was a serious mistake. He will be punished,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

Genoa had been leading both 2-0 and 3-1, but conceded two late goals for a shock defeat, especially as Palermo had lost nine Serie A rounds on the trot.

“I saw a game where my team created many chances and conceded goals on set plays. It’s a real blow, but we’ve got to lift our heads and take the positives from the performance, trying to improve on the negatives.

“I think my lads are more disappointed by anyone at the result. We conceded two practically identical goals and missed some incredible opportunities to extend our lead further.

“The truth is we thought it was all under control, that Palermo were beaten, but we were wrong. We’ve got young players in this squad and they were naïve this evening.

“I can’t say it’s a night to forget, but it does remind us that football is unpredictable.”
