Before his side head to Doha for the SuperCoppa Italiana, the former Fiorentina man gave some diplomatic responses to questions over the club's President.

The 80-year old had even gone so far as to say that Montella had got his tactics wrong, but the Coach assured that he was the one to be ultimately in charge.

"Berlusconi understands us, he is democratic," L'Aeroplanino told Tuttosport.  "Some of the tips he gives are very interesting.

"I am in charge day-to-day, however I listen and evaluate what he says. It is not wrong to say that those up front can play as he says."

Montella went on to remember a famous victory against Juventus from back when he was in charge of Fiorentina.

"Fiorentina 4-2 Juventus was the most exciting game for all the Viola fans, something they had never seen.

"Juventus had never conceded three goals whereas we, in a little over a quarter of an hour, made them concede four.

"It was a magical thing, the kind that only football can give."

Who will be fit to play against Juventus in the cup?

"Training? I do not know yet. [Giacomo] Bonaventura is recovered, [Carlos] Bacca is our bomber.

"I do not have the exact statistics of the other teams, but I think in today's football, all the teams are changing how often they train.

"And there is no kind of typical formation. Squads are too large for that.

"I want to see the right attitude. Against Juventus it is not enough to be at 90%, you need 100% and a little bit more.

"Then it takes a bit of luck, Juve have won five and a half league titles.

"Since nothing is different between the league and the cup in terms of value on the pitch, it's up to us to be a little more daring and play the game of life.

"The objective is to improve, then we'll see what the transfer market brings.

"The club is strong and competent, but do not ask me questions about the future. I prefer to remain in the present."
