“If we analyse the statistics from our defeat to Chievo, then in terms of intensity over the 90 minutes it was probably our best performance of the season, better even than the wins over Inter and Torino,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Other than the two decisive mistakes, the lads did many good things. We’re working on our weaknesses and tomorrow have the opportunity to put things right.

“Before the Chievo game I noticed a lack of concentration, of the right spice to face certain situations. Tomorrow we must make up for the two consecutive defeats, especially those who have made errors.

“It’s not a test – it’s an opportunity to prove ourselves. What interests me is the attitude of the team, their ability face up to situations. We need to believe in ourselves and be more ferocious.

“I organised a special training session focused only on getting more determination in our finishing.”

Udinese are on the up under new boss Gigi Del Neri, playing classic counter-attacking football.

“Del Neri’s sides are always easy to spot and I used to visit his Chievo training camp to learn from him. It’s a practical team, one that plays the counter and creates density in midfield.

“I expect a complicated match, so we need the right patience and intuition to anticipate Udinese’s moves.”
