Genoa have agreed terms with Atalanta for Mauricio Pinilla and the Chile international will have his medical tomorrow.
Sky Sport Italia report the deal is all done and he is turning down offers from Chinese side Wuhan Zall and Mexican club Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz.
Veracruz are furious, as President Fidel Kuri claims “the player had already signed a contract with me. An agreement was worked out long ago, but now I think his agents are trying to use us to get more advantages from a different club.
“I spoke to Pinilla and he was very happy and ready to start this adventure in Veracruz. Unfortunately, with agents these things change.”
It will be a return for the striker, who wore the Grifone jersey in 2014-15 and replaces Napoli-bound Leonardo Pavoletti.
He left after sliding down the pecking order under Coach Gian Piero Gasperini and joined Atalanta instead.
However, he found himself reunited with Gasp in Bergamo and was dropped here too.
Nonetheless, Pinilla has scored one goal in four Serie A appearances for Atalanta this season.
The 32-year-old spent most of his career in Italy after spells in Chile, Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Brazil and Cyprus.
