Chievo are hoping to re-sign former striker Alberto Paloschi from current side Atalanta.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chievo have contacted Bergamaschi officials over the possibility of acquiring the 27-year-old.

Paloschi left the Veronese club in January 2016 for a fee in the region of €8m, but the move ended in failure.

Making just seven starting appearances, the Lombardy-native scored just two goals for the Premier League side and returned to Italy with Atalanta this summer.

Enjoying little success back in Serie A, Paloschi has made seven starts but has so far failed to score.

Now, Chievo have approached Atalanta, but the latter are said to be unwilling to let the player go out on loan.

The Italian newspaper reports that the two sides will continue the discussion as they search for an agreement over the player.
