“We had an excellent first half of the season, but the best and most difficult part comes now,” said the Aquile Coach in his Press conference.
“We are no longer a surprise package and neither are Atalanta, so it means we’ve got to do even better. I told the lads that to keep their current position in the table, we can’t let anything slide.
“I think it is a head-to-head for Europe, as we are not in the first five or six rounds here. We’re midway through and near the top of the table.
“Atalanta are in good shape and will try to hurt us, but we have a lot of quality in our squad.”
Luis Alberto finally had his first start last week against Crotone and was impressive, so with Keita Balde Diao at the Africa Cup of Nations, will he feature again?
“He is a player of immense quality, but arrived over the summer without pre-season training and from a very different style of football. I am happy with his performance last Sunday, as he was very much in the thick of it. He will probably start tomorrow, yes.
“This is a very important match for us and I want to see the right level of intensity.”
While Luis Alberto is available at last, Danilo Cataldi has left for a loan spell at Genoa.
“Danilo asked to leave, as he was not happy with the amount of playing time he had here and it was probably the right decision,” noted Inzaghi.
“Now he will have a great six months, Genoa were determined to sign him and he’ll return to us stronger next season.”
