Atalanta have signed Benfica midfielder Bryan Cristante on loan, with an option for a permanent transfer.

The club confirmed the news via their official website. The deal cuts short a loan spell with Serie A strugglers Pescara, with whom the 21-year-old had made 10 starts since joining in the summer.

Cristante has represented Italy at all international youth levels, making his debut for the U21 side against England in November 2016.

A product of the Milan academy, he was snapped up by Benfica in 2014 for a fee of €4.84m.
