New Palermo boss Diego Lopez insists Maurizio Zamparini “made a great impression on me”, despite the President’s managerial trigger finger.

“First of all, I must thank the President Zamparini and sporting director Salerno,” he began.
“For me, it’s a great opportunity. The good thing is that Zamparini has made a great impression on me.

“I’ve signed a year-and-a-half contract, but the fans shouldn’t think that we’re planning for Serie B.
“The truth is that we all believe. I refused other opportunities [to come here]. Zamparini believes it, that we’re not resigned to Serie B.
“Napoli? I don’t think we’ll face a team distracted by or thinking about Real Madrid.
“My focus is on us going to Naples and trying to make a game of it. We’ll go there and try to play our game.
“We won’t go to the San Paolo to play catenaccio, we must think about winning, not jogging or playing for a 0-0.”
