Udinese winger Rodrigo De Paul was keen to reiterate that he apologised to Mattia De Sciglio, after a tackle left the Milan full-back with ligament damage.

The Argentine then went on to score his first goal in Serie A, which caused controversy after Milan felt that he should have been sent off.

"Texts ? I had many from relatives and friends, it was my first goal in Serie A,” De Paul told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But first I want to clarify something that I care about so much.

"Texts ? I had many from relatives and friends, it was my first goal in Serie A,” De Paul told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But first I want to clarify something that I care about so much.

"I immediately apologised to De Sciglio and wished him well.

"I want to reiterate that I didn’t say anything bad, I didn’t intend to hurt him, I always try to take the ball and even on that occasion it was like this.

"I'm settling in the Italian league which it is not easy and you need to adapt. Now I feel a lot of confidence, and when there is trust everything is easier.

"I have a great relationship with the Coach and this way I can work more comfortably. The first goal in Serie A was a great joy.

"I do not know if the goalkeeper could have done more. I have recovered what I had been lacking against Inter."

De Paul has also played in Spain, so what would he say are the differences between La Liga and Serie A?

"Serie A is not only more tactical, as they always say, but there is also greater physical strength."

The winger has been linked with a move to Watford, who are owned by the same family as Udinese. Is there any truth to this?

"I see only Udine and Udinese. I started this journey and now that I have begun to adapt myself well, I definitely want to continue with them."
