Goals from Felipe Anderson and Lucas Biglia secured a 2-1 win for Lazio on Tuesday to not only knock Inter out of the Coppa but also end their run of nine straight victories, and Pioli rued Miranda’s red card as the Nerazzurri “would’ve had a chance to come back” with the defender still on the pitch.

“We also made some more mistakes than usual, but the big teams know how to bounce back and fix the things that didn’t work.
“We’ll try to do so because I’m convinced that I’m the Coach of a great team. It wasn’t to be, but we’ll work even harder because we know the quality of our next opponents.
“We started very well, much better than in the League against Lazio, but then we had a serious lapse in concentrated that cost us dearly.
“We made some mistakes, but had we still played with 11 players, we would’ve had a chance to come back.
“The players tried hard and I must applaud them. we have to take care of some little things. We scored when we were well positioned.
“Regarding the quality of Mauro [Icardi], there’s no doubt about it, but Rodrigo, for me, had a good game.
“A forward’s performance is influenced a lot by that of the team. When we raised our centre of gravity, when we were close to their box, we were dangerous.
“I knew that we had a strong bench, with players that were ready to go, but after our changes, we went down to 10.
“Still, our efforts made me think we could do well every game.”
