The two mid-table teams played out a dour stalemate at the Bentegodi, meaning they each drop a place to 11th and 12th respectively following Sampdoria's win over Milan.
"It was a case of two teams who cancelled each other out," Maran admitted to Italian media post-match. "The match was played mostly in midfield."
Despite the lack of quality on show, the Flying Donkeys Coach was happy with the defensive side of his team's display.
