Frosinone and Chievo concluded their seasons and Serie A experiences with a goalless draw, although the Flying Donkeys set an unfortunate record.
Chievo managed just one victory all season, something no team has experienced since Serie A returned to 20 teams in 2004-05.
Both these sides were relegated some time ago and bid farewell to the top flight for at least one year. Federico Barba and Mariusz Stepinski were suspended for Chievo, with Medhi Leris and Ezequiel Schelotto injured. It was Sergio Pellissier’s final appearance before he hangs up his boots at the age of 40. Frosinone missed Bartosz Salamon, Raman Chibsah and Mirko Gori, but started veteran striker Federico Dionisi.
Pellissier had the ball in the net after 12 minutes, but the flag was already up, as Marco Andreolli was offside in the build-up.
Camillo Ciano drilled wide of the near post and Luca Paganini’s volley was charged down from close range, but Chievo lost Assane Diousse to injury.
Bostjan Cesar made a decisive block to prevent Ciano’s angled drive making the most of a poor Paganini back-pass.
Daniel Ciofani came off the bench and almost immediately made an impact, his header into the ground on a corner forcing a tricky save from Adrian Semper.
Frosinone almost got the winner in the final minute when Semper fumbled a seemingly harmless Nicolò Brighenti effort and Nicolas Frey had to clear off the line.
