Torino finally celebrated a home win in this relegation dogfight against a toothless Bologna.
This relegation tussle saw a Bologna side that is struggling to get points at all and a Toro outfit that did better on its travels than at home. Suciu was out for the Granata, but Angelo Ogbonna finally returned to the squad after suffering from a groin strain. The Rossoblu were without Robert Acquafresca, Archimede Morleo, Henry Gimenez, Cesare Natali and Carvalho.
Alessandro Diamanti drilled wide from distance in the opening minutes, then at the other end Sansone flicked on an Alessio Cerci cross that forced Federico Agliardi to parry with his foot at the base of the near post.
Rolando Bianchi just failed to make contact with another Cerci cross, then his give-and-go sent him clear but the former Manchester City striker fired over the bar.
Bologna had their first real chance of the game after 51 minutes when Saphir Taider’s glancing header sent a Gyorgy Garics cross wide.
Sorensen had to charge down Sansone’s counter-attack following a Rene Krhin error, then Agliardi fingertipped a Sansone free kick out from under the bar.
From the resulting corner, Torino’s pressure finally paid off, as defender D’Ambrosio got forward to nod in off the inside of the upright from six yards.
Bologna tried to fight back, but Diamanti and Taider only skimmed the woodwork, while in the final minutes Agliardi palmed a Riccardo Meggiorini attempt out from under the bar.
