SERIE A MATCH REPORT

Serie A Week 4 - 24 Sep 2014 (19.45 UK)
Cagliari 1 - 2 Torino
Cossu 10 (C), Glik 21 (T), Quagliarella 29 (T)
Stadio Sant'Elia

Torino got their first goals and win of the season, sending Cagliari to the foot of the table.

Both sides were still looking for their first victories of the season and patience was running thin. Toro had the added problem of being yet to score a goal, as losing Ciro Immobile and Alessio Cerci over the summer hit them hard. Migjen Basha, Alexander Farnerud, Antonio Nocerino and Paulo Barreto were injured, while Zdenek Zeman’s men only missed Sebastian Eriksson, but again picked Alessio Cragno in goal.

Daniele Padelli literally gifted the opener to Cagliari with a dreadful clearance to the edge of the box and Andrea Cossu did not pass that up.

Toro equalised thanks to their first goal of the Serie A season, as captain Kamil Glik rose to nod in a corner.

Fabio Quagliarella turned the game around when a free kick broke and he was quickest to react from 10 yards.

It was almost 3-1 before the break, but Cragno came to the rescue on Joao Pedro’s strike and a splendid Giuseppe Vives angled drive.

A wonderful Omar El Kaddouri curler smacked against the crossbar, Amauri skimmed the upright and Cragno got back to palm a Ruben Perez lob away.
