Ciro Immobile bagged a brace around Keita Balde Diao’s strike as Lazio ran riot with a 3-0 win away to Udinese.
The hosts managed just one point from the last four editions of this fixture, as Lazio are unbeaten here since April 2013.
The Biancocelesti made the trip without injured Lucas Biglia, Stefan Radu, Bastos, Federico Marchetti and Dusan Basta. Simone Inzaghi changed the system to 4-2-3-1 with Ciro Immobile spearheading a mobile trio behind him. The hosts missed Silvan Widmer, Emil Hallfredsson, Ewandro, Samir and Marco Davide Faraoni.
Panagiotis Kone’s volley at the back post flashed across the face of goal with nobody able to get the tap-in, while Keita Balde Diao turned on the turbo and was only felled at the third tackle, leading to a Thomas Heurtaux yellow card.
Keita’s daisy-cutter was deflected inches past the base of the far post and on the resulting corner, Lazio took the lead. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic knocked on the Felipe Anderson set play for Immobile’s header at the back stick.
Udinese fought back and Rodrigo De Paul unleashed a scorcher from 20 metres that flashed just wide, while Emmanuel Agyemang Badu slalomed through a group of defenders until his shot was eventually charged down.
Lazio were pouring forward after the restart and the pressure paid off, as Keita held his run until the Felipe Anderson delicate through ball, keeping his cool to toe-poke it through the legs of the on-rushing goalkeeper.
Udinese were all at sea and the Aquile were slicing through their defence like butter, scoring the third goal from goalkeeper to net without a touch from the hosts. At the end of it, Marco Parolo’s through ball was back-heeled by Lulic for Immobile to take a touch and side-foot into the far bottom corner, all totally undisturbed.
Thomas Strakosha kept Lazio’s clean sheet intact with a splendid reaction save on Stipe Perica’s header from point-blank range and the Friulani striker also had penalty appeals for a clumsy Wesley Hoedt tackle.
The 21-year-old Albanian goalkeeper was again decisive on Perica’s header at the back post, but Cristiano Lombardi almost scored with his first touch, sliding on to a cross to thump the upright.
