The Stadio Renato Dall'Ara has been home to Bologna since its construction in 1927, replacing the Stadio Sterlino.
The stadium holds 38,279 spectators but had initially held 50,100 under its original title of Il Littoriale, before changing to Stadio Comunale after the Second World War. In 1983 it was renamed to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, in honour of a former President of the club.
It played host to four matches at Italia 1990, including England’s 1-0 defeat of Belgium in the Round of 16. The stadium was also witness to the World Cup competition's quickest goal ever scored, by Davide Gualtieri of San Marino, taking 8.3 seconds to put his team ahead against England, who eventually ran out 7-1 winners. It has also hosted three Rugby Union matches.
The Dall’Ara is situated just 5km from the nearest motorway, with regular buses running from the train station on matchdays taking about 15 minutes.
