Founded in 1911, Brescia have spent most of their time in Serie B, even dropping down to the Third Division on a number of occasions. Their yo-yo approach to the top flight football can be appreciated by the fact that only once have they managed to achieve a fifth consecutive season in Serie A.
Brescia’s recent history is even more surprising. Since 1969, the Lombards had not managed more than one successive season in Serie A. However, that curse was broken in 2000-01 when Coach Carlo Mazzone led them to a remarkable eighth place, their best ever finish in the top flight.
The Anglo-Italian Cup Brescia won in 1993-94 is the club’s only trophy but they have specialised in reviving the careers of veteran legends such as Roberto Baggio and Gigi Di Biagio. Their promotion ends their five year exile from the top Division after their relegation back in 2005.
