Milan legend Clarence Seedorf praises Carlo Ancelotti’s style and how the Italian tactician celebrated Real Madrid’s win over Manchester City: ‘Carletto is always great.’
Former Netherlands international Seedorf won the Champions League twice under Ancelotti at Milan and was particularly happy to see his former coach beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
The Merengues beat the defending champions on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate draw and Ancelotti celebrated pretty calmly despite a tense meeting.
“I like the tranquillity he transmits,” Seedorf told Amazon Prime Video Italia.
“Even the way he celebrated and spoke to Guardiola [at the end of the game] was always elegant and respectful. Carletto is always great.”
Talking to Amazon Prime Video after the game, Ancelotti said he had congratulated Guardiola and wished him good luck for the second part of the campaign.
Seedorf also analysed the penalty shootout that saw Real Madrid emerge victorious.
“I took some penalty kicks in my career and missed many, too,” said the ex-midfielder.
“There are many factors, but I think confidence is always key.”
However, taking penalty kicks in home games is not necessarily an advantage for those who show up from the spot.
“Especially when it’s a favourable moment, there are psychological aspects. For example, you don’t want to disappoint the fans,” concluded Ancelotti.
Seedorf is among the few players to have won the Champions League four times, twice with Milan, once with Real Madrid and once with Ajax.
