Former Juventus star Carlos Tevez has been admitted to hospital with chest pain and is undergoing medical examinations, his club Independiente announced.

Ex-Juventus star Tevez, the current coach of Argentine club Independiente, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night.

“Our coach, Carlos Tevez, entered the La Trinidad Sanatorium in San Isidro with chest pain,” the club said on X, formerly Twitter.

“They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory. Tomorrow he will continue with a series of exams scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up that is usually carried out.”

One hour later, Independiente provided a further update: “Carlos Tevez will be hospitalized as a precaution until checks are completed.”

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tevez already struggled with chest pain this past October, when he collapsed at home, hitting his head. This is why doctors had already scheduled some tests for the ex-striker who returned to the hospital last night.

Tevez turned 40 on February 5, 2024.

A former striker for Boca, Corinthians, West Ham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua, Tevez won two Serie A titles, one Supercoppa and one Coppa Italia with the Serie A giants, scoring 50 goals in 96 appearances in Turin. He left the club in 2015 returning to Boca Juniors. He was appointed by Independiente on August 22, 2023.
