Diego Forlan doesn't think he's too old to make a difference at Inter. "I feel good and that's all that matters," said the 32-year-old.
The Uruguayan was presented to the media on Thursday after completing his move from Atletico Madrid.
"I've been at some important clubs, but I still have the same enthusiasm I've always had," said the ex Manchester United man. "I hope to do well here and make the most of this opportunity.
"I'm at Inter, a very important team, and I want to thank President Massimo Moratti in particular and the directors of this club. This is a great opportunity for me."
Forlan has been signed after the Nerazzurri decided to sell Samuel Eto'o to Russian club Anzhi last week.
"Replacing him is not a problem for me," he added. "We all know that Eto'o is a fantastic player, but you have to move on as players change teams all the time."
After playing in England and in Spain, Forlan is delighted to have been handed the opportunity to test himself on the peninsula.
"As a kid I was always watching Italian matches," he added. "I remember watching other Uruguayan players who were at Inter before me.
"Ruben Sosa and Alvaro Recoba were both brilliant. I spoke to Ruben just yesterday and I can see myself as a child when I used to watch him playing for Inter.
"I'd certainly like to have the same relationship with Moratti that Recoba did. I want to prove my worth on the pitch and win him over that way.
"I love watching Italian football and I'm very proud to be here and to have this chance to play in Serie A."
Despite his arrival, it's unclear where Forlan will feature in Gian Piero Gasperini's 3-4-3 system given the presence of Giampaolo Pazzini and Diego Milito.
"For Uruguay I play in the hole, while at Villarreal, Manchester United and Atletico I was the target man. I'll discuss it with Gasperini and we'll see what the best solution is.
"In a team like Inter, with so many great players, there's a lot of competition for places and you have to make sure you're always at the top of your game and then wait for the Coach to decide.
"I have my opportunity here now and I plan to take it and help this team win."
