Gasperini: 'Inter not in crisis'

Gian Piero Gasperini has reiterated that he is in control of his work at Inter, and that the team is not in crisis.

The 53-year-old tactician has come under fire in recent days, after consecutive defeats to Milan, Palermo and Trabzonspor saw the Nerazzurri make their worst start to a season since 1921-22.

Talking in his Press conference before Saturday evening's San Siro clash with Roma, Gasperini looked to dispel the fears of crisis surrounding the dressing room.

"When you go down it's easier to get back up again. Putting aside the superstitious considerations, I believe that tomorrow we can play a good match," commented the former Genoa man.

"In recent days the feeling is that we're in the midst of a storm. But that's only the case from the outside, not the inside. And it's not the case with the team or the club.

"That's the important thing. For this I think that already by tomorrow we can show an important response."

Gasperini was also keen to put straight the belief that his decision to change tactics for the Champions League clash with Trabzonspor was influenced by outside forces, including President Massimo Moratti.

"I'm in control of my work. For me what's important is the professionalism of the team, what the President tells me and what the club tells me.

"The President has always had a very motivational attitude towards me and that's what counts."

Gasperini also took time to answer former Inter Coach Roberto Mancini's reported claims that the club had reached the end of a cycle.

""How do I respond? That when a cycle ends you hope to open an new one. I believe that we are and we can be competitive.

"We will be in Italy and we will be in Europe, too."

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique arrives with his Roma team under an equal amount of pressure as Gasperini, and the Nerazzurri boss looked towards Saturday night's meeting.

"Looking at Roma the impression is one of a team that has had some difficulty but believes in a project. I think they'll do very good things as time goes on.

"We have a high consideration of Roma, a team that can possess the ball with good organisation of play. And just the same, we have to be precise and alert in our organisation of play.

"We'll try to find the right balance, and our team will be a concrete one."

"The tactical aspect cannot be the solution to everything."
