Gasperini 'regret' at Inter sacking

Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed his regret at being sacked by Inter, but thanked the club for the opportunity to work with them.

The Coach failed to win any of the five fixtures he oversaw when at the club, with Massimo Moratti then relieving him of his duties on Wednesday morning. Talking to Sky Sport Italia, Gasperini gave his immediate reaction to the decision.

"It is too bad that this relationship is over.

"I'm very sorry, but the results determine everything. There was a very good relationship with both the team and the board, and that's why right now I feel regret, a regret I believe is shared by all."

Meanwhile, Moratti thinks it is unlikely that Giuseppe Baresi and Daniele Bernazzani will remain in charge of Inter.

The coaching duo took charge of the Nerazzurri's training session this morning as Gian Piero Gasperini was relieved of his position as Coach.

However, when asked of the possibility of continuing under the duo, the President replied: "I don't think so, it is unlikely."

It is believed the club are looking to act quickly to replace Gasperini, with the concern of a full fixture list to follow. Claudio Ranieri is strongly linked with the role.
