Alberto Aquilani thanks Juventus for giving him a chance, but “Milan is like Paradise” as he returns to face his former teammates.
The midfielder is still owned by Liverpool, but was welcomed back to Serie A last year in a loan spell with Juve.
The club would not pay the agreed buy-out clause and failed to haggle a lower fee, so he joined the Rossoneri instead in a similar deal.
“Milan is like paradise, as there are the ideal conditions to live well and play football,” Aquilani told the Corriere dello Sport.
“Now I understand why all the players who came to Milan said they felt happy. Now I want to become a key player for this team.
“I didn't get to play with Liverpool very much and it was difficult to settle in. I thank Juventus, who gave me the chance to play regularly again and to make it back into the Italy squad.
“I came to Milan when it was still possible to resume talks with Juventus, but the Rossoneri confirmed my contract until 2014. I chose to cut my wages so I could thank them for the opportunity they were giving me.
“I am very happy to have made this choice.”
Aquilani returns to Turin to face Juve on Sunday evening and takes on his replacement, former Milan star Andrea Pirlo.
“The fact we swapped clubs this summer is just a coincidence. I don't think the game will be decisive for the Scudetto, as it's still too early to say.”
