Italian referee designator Stefano Braschi has defended Gianluca Rocchi for his officiating of the Inter-Napoli tie.
The man in black was heavily criticised by the Nerazzurri for some of his decisions in their 3-0 home loss to the Azzurri on Saturday.
However, speaking with Radio RAI on Monday, Braschi was eager to underline Rocchi's ability as a man with a whistle.
"He's one of the best and most important referees in Europe," Braschi stated. "I have great respect for him.
"He's been delivering top performances for the last 18 months now. We are talking about a man and an athlete of a great level.
"Every now and again, he can have a bad game. He was just below par."
Speculation suggests that Rocchi could be given two or three weeks off as punishment for his San Siro show.
"Will he be suspended? I've not said anything," he concluded.
