Prandelli wants 'Club Italia'

Cesare Prandelli wants Italy to “be more like a club, but we're on the right track” after setting a new record against Serbia.

The Azzurri have seven wins and two draws from the Euro 2012 qualification campaign, going for 715 minutes unbeaten.

This breaks the previous best in a European or World Cup qualifying group of 708 minutes set by Cesare Maldini on the road to France '98.

“We want to make Italy be more like a club side, though it will take a lot more work to get to that point. Still, we're on the right track,” said Prandelli in his Press conference.

“Claudio Marchisio is having a great season with Juventus and therefore carried that on into the Nazionale. Giuseppe Rossi showed character and never gave the ball away.

“Giorgio Chiellini played well in the left-back position. He needs to refine the movement, but he has great physical strength and penetration.”

Italy's next match is on Tuesday in Pescara, their final Euro 2012 qualifier against Northern Ireland.

Prandelli is expected to make big changes to the squad and could give Cagliari's Davide Astori his senior international debut in defence.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is also expected to earn his first cap, while Alberto Aquilani and Sebastian Giovinco should start.
