'Parma right place for Giovinco'

Parma chief Tommaso Ghirardi believes that Sebastian Giovinco will continue to mature at the club.

The diminutive forward has made a stunning start to the campaign and was rewarded with a shirt in Italy's 3-0 win over Northern Ireland last night.

"He played well," stated Ghirardi on Wednesday. "I'm just a little disappointed that he didn't score. However, I'm sure that he can give a lot to Italy."

Giovinco spent last term on loan at the Tardini before the club bought 50 per cent of his contract from Juventus in the summer for €3.5m.

"We have a good relationship with Giovinco," added Ghirardi. "He knows that we rate him and that he can be a protagonist with this club.

"However, he knows that he still has to grow, but he's a humble kid who doesn't get carried away by enthusiasm."

Giovinco has caught the attention of a number of clubs this term, seeing as he's actually the Serie A top scorer thanks to his five goals.

"It's satisfying to know that clubs of international stature have their eyes on him," continued Ghirardi. "It means that we made a good investment."
