Gamberini: 'Criticising Miha is unjust'

Alessandro Gamberini has defended Sinisa Mihajlovic and suggested criticism of his Coach is wide of the mark.

The centre-back was talking in the wake of questions marks being raised once more of Mihajlovic's capability to progress with the team, It follows the Viola's third game on the bounce without a win when against 10-man Cesena they could only draw 0-0 on Sunday.

However, Gamberini is resolute in his opinion on the matter.

"Criticism of Mihajlovic is absolutely unjust, he is doing a great job with Fiorentina right from last season when he had so many problems.

"Mihajlovic has brought character and identity to the team. This year will see that bear fruit in our level of play. Fiorentina is playing well and against Napoli, Lazio and Cesena has collected less than we have deserved.

"Three points more would have sufficed and would have seen a different [League] ranking."

The team have one of the best defensive records in the League but have visibly struggled to replace the injured Alberto Gilardino in attack with a consistent goal-threat.

"The responsibility [to score goals] is with the whole team, but we do create a lot. The dressing room is calm, the group is united and this is fundamental.

"Of course we deserved more against Cesena and with the numerical advantage we should have changed the result."
