Lower League clubs docked points

A number of lower League sides including Serie B side Ascoli have been docked points today following a disciplinary hearing for financially-related issues.

The National Disciplinary Commission announced on Monday their verdict in the case of a number of clubs failing to provide a series of financial statements to a set deadline.

Ascoli are the biggest name to be hit with a points deduction, with the committee docking them three points and banning President Roberto Benigni for 10 months for the same offence.

The Serie B outfit are already bottom of the League as a result of previous points deductions totalling seven points, whilst the latest penalty is set to leave the team 11 points adrift from safety with 11 games played.

Also for the same financial irregularities, six clubs have received penalties. Lega Pro 2 side Aurora Pro Patria have been deducted six points to add to the three-point deduction they were handed in September.

Foligno also receive their second points deduction too, having a further two points chalked off their Lega Pro Prima tally.

Foggia, Como, Savona and Ebolitana have all been docked one point each.
