Franco Colomba lamented the concession of a quick-fire brace from Antonio Nocerino as being crucial to Parma's 4-1 collapse against Milan.
Wednesday night saw the Gialloblu lose their third consecutive game at San Siro to the Rossoneri and their second when conceding four goals.
Refusing to criticise his men directly, Coach Colomba felt surprise hat-trick hero Nocerino's first two goals that arrived inside a two-minute spell in the first half were crucial to opening up the game and favouring the home team's chances.
"With Milan you have to take on board that things like that will happen, if you do not play properly.
"As long as you remain in a game you can think about points, but when you concede one and then two, it becomes very difficult. You are forced to push too much and risk conceding more goals.
"They are a strong team physically, especially in midfield with running and tackling. We have tried to recover in the second half, but left spaces that they took advantage of."
The suggestion is that Colomba's team selection was with one eye on the more realistic prospect of picking up three points at the weekend at home to Cesena.
"Maybe it is true when they say that I thought about the next game, even if in the end I played several of those who will play on Sunday.
"It helped me to see a couple of young people at work who, before a large crowd importantly, then played a good game."
