Euro 2012: Italy pick Spain!

Italy have been paired with Spain, the Republic of Ireland and Croatia in the draw for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.

It is a massive group for the Nazionale, who have to fight it out with the reigning European and World champions, plus Giovanni Trapattoni’s Ireland.

All these matches will be played in Poland, between Gdansk and Poznan, opening with Spain-Italy on June 10 at 17.00 UK time.

The second encounter is Italy-Croatia on June 14 at 17.00 UK time, followed by a clash with the Republic of Ireland on June 18.

The draw was held this evening in Kiev and Coach Cesare Prandelli was present.

The Azzurri were in Pot 2 for the draw, as co-hosts Poland and Ukraine took up two of the top seeds, joined by holders Spain and the Netherlands.
