Ranieri: 'Inter get back up'

Claudio Ranieri does not want people to call this win Inter’s “turning point, but this is a team that gets back up after falling.”

The Nerazzurri had lost their last two home games in all competition, but swept Fiorentina aside 2-0 this evening.

“Is it a turning point? Let’s not talk about that, as I think over the course of the season we’ve said it so many times that we’ve worn the phrase out,” joked Ranieri.

“It was a fine performance, as this is a team that gets back up after falling. I want to thank the fans for their support.

“Fiorentina had their first shot on target after 70 minutes. Douglas Maicon is one of the old guard and was coming back from a long injury, so I told him not to push as hard as usual, as he needs to get his fitness back.

“Giampaolo Pazzini’s goal was important for him. It was disappointing to substitute Diego Milito, but he hurt his ankle. My strikers need to score goals and it was important today that we both netted and kept a clean sheet.

“These are players who have won everything and don’t want to give up now. Neither do I.”
