Padova beat Torino after 11 days

Padova have beaten Torino 1-0 in their Serie B encounter this afternoon – 11 days after the game originally kicked off.

The December 3 tie had to be suspended with the home side 1-0 up after a floodlight failure saw the game abandoned on 76 minutes.

Torino argued that they should be awarded a 3-0 win, but the footballing authorities instead insisted that the game should resume where it ended.

Those remaining 14 minutes, plus two of added time, were played this afternoon with no change to the scoreline.

Torino are four points clear of Verona at the top of the standings, whereas Padova have now moved into fourth behind Sassuolo.

Today’s game was the ‘shortest’ in Serie B history. Torino may still appeal against the decision to resume the tie.
