Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri admits that he still doesn’t know his starting XI for Tuesday’s trip to Cagliari.
The Rossoneri travel to Allegri’s former club for their re-arranged Week 1 tie which could see them go back to the top of the table.
“I have doubts in midfield and in attack,” the tactician stated on Monday afternoon. “I’ll evaluate things tomorrow.
“Goalkeeper Christian Abbiati? Yes, he could return to the line-up.”
Milan have won eight of their last 10 League games – drawing the other two – but they are still a couple of points away from League leaders Juventus.
“We can’t get this game wrong,” Allegri continued. “These are important points for the championship.
“We know that the Cagliari game won’t be easy as they are a team who don’t leave you much space in which to play.
“We’ve made an excellent recovery in the League and we could be mentally tired, but I want one more push.
“You also win the League when you collect wins in games in which you actually don’t play well.”
Despite their charge up the standings, the Rossoneri do have their problems – especially in attack where only Zlatan Ibrahimovic is scoring with consistency.
“I’m sure that all the strikers will start scoring – Alexandre Pato and Robinho will get goals,” added Allegri.
“However, it’s a good sign that the midfielders are scoring. The midfield has produced 13 goals already and we’re not even at the half-way stage yet.”
Ibra has 10 Serie A goals, Robinho and the sidelined Antonio Cassano have two, while Pato and Stephan El Shaarawy have one goal so far.
Allegri was also asked for his thoughts on his contract situation seeing as his deal is set to expire in June 2012.
“I don’t think there will be any problems,” he added. “I am talking to Vice-President Adriano Galliani about it.
“It’s only normal that discussions are about money, but once we’ve agreed on that then there will be no other issues.”
