Donati on his way to Palermo

Palermo have confirmed that they are on the verge of signing Massimo Donati from Serie B side Bari.

“It’s a deal that is in the pipeline,” Rosanero Vice-President Guglielmo Miccichè told Radio Sportiva. “Just details are remaining.

“We are interested in him. He is a quality player and he’s needed to resolve Palermo’s problems in midfield.”

Donati, requested by new boss Bortolo Mutti, joined Bari in August 2009 after a spell in Scotland with Celtic.

A former Italian Under-21 international, the 30-year-old has also played for Atalanta, Milan, Parma, Torino, Sampdoria and Messina.
